The PURE Nutrition RX
There is clearly no single diet that is best for all humans. We can certainly make some generalizations to benefit most, but because we all have a different genetic makeup and live in different environments with different lifestyles, not every food will be metabolized and digested in the same way across the board. In fact, the very foods that help to heal some people may harm others.
Even when we follow healthful guidelines of eating a largely plant-based, well-balanced diet, there may be foods that cause an undesirable reaction. Whether we are suffering from inflammation, struggling to lose weight, would like to sleep more soundly, boost energy levels or maintain an overall sense of well-being, the foods we eat may be at the core of the issue.
FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING
Food Sensitivity Testing is a way of determining the exact foods, in all food groups, that benefit an individual, as well as which to avoid. With a simple blood test, we can customize a meal plan with specific fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, meats, poultry, seafood, herbs, and spices.
PURE Executive Health and Wellness tests and consults patients for food sensitivities— in our office or in the comfort of your home, local or foreign. We can draw blood on location, consult online, cruise farmers markets together, meet in your pantry or plant in your garden. Shop, cook, create meals and recipes, order at restaurants, read labels- we can teach you how, or we can do it for you.
If you are what you eat, what are you?…
Let your white blood cells do the talking, and be PURE, be your best you!
What is a food sensitivity test?
It is a simple blood test to determine what an individual may have an inflammatory response to. It examines how our white blood cells react over time to different foods or chemicals. By observing how the cells react, we can identify the exact foods that may be causing a person to be sick, overweight, or even fatigued.
Are food sensitivities the same as allergies?
No, allergies will have an immediate and sometimes life-threatening effect. But with food sensitivities, the reaction may take place several days after consumption or exposure. This delay makes it very difficult to determine which foods or chemicals caused the reaction.
How do I prepare for the test?
You do not need to fast. You do not need to consume any of the foods you will be testing for. Simply call us to schedule a blood draw- in our office, in the comfort of your own home, or in a lab of your choice, whether you are local or out of state. And drink plenty of water so the blood flows easily.
What kinds of foods can I be tested for? And are there other items to test for in addition to foods?
There are hundreds of foods that we test for, as well as herbs and spices, additives and preservatives, environmental chemicals, food colorings, molds, medications, functional foods and medicinal herbs.
What is inflammation?
It is a hot topic today in medicine. Inflammation appears to be connected to almost every known chronic disease. Inflammation is an autoimmune response where your body begins to attack its own tissues.
What causes inflammation?
Stress causes inflammation. And stress comes in many forms. Stress may be environmental (such as pollution), physical (infections, an inflammatory diet, lack of sleep) or psychological. When your body is under stress, somehow it redirects its hostile attacks on your joints, your gut, your skin, your brain, your thyroid, and sometimes your whole body.
What are some of the diseases that are caused by inflammation?
- Skin disorders such as acne, eczema, Rosacea
- Arthritis
- Digestive ailments
- Migraines
- Chronic fatigue
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Sinusitis and Depression are some of the most common
What if I don’t have an inflammatory issue?
You don’t need to have inflammation to benefit from the test. Athletes are using the test as a tool to enhance stamina and strength. Seniors are testing to improve their ability to perform their simple activities of daily living. It is being used to lose weight, feel your best and slow down the biological time clock.
How long does the program take to work?
The program is designed to take place over 6 months. All of your reactive foods will be eliminated from the start and they will be slowly and systematically added back over the course of that time. Our bodies need that time to eliminate the toxins and to heal.
How do I follow the program?
The test results are presented in an easy to understand color-coded format. They highlight each patient’s compatible foods as well as the incompatible foods. The incompatible foods are divided by level of reaction- severe, moderate, mild. The level indicates how long to avoid that food for.
After, I know which foods to eliminate, how do I come up with a meal plan?
Our nutritionist can answer all of your questions every step of the way. We offer programs to help with: meal planning, creating recipes, ordering at restaurants, reading labels, food shopping, as well as preparing and delivering or cooking your meals with you in your home. How can I prevent myself from having food sensitivities in the future?

Practice deep relaxation- whether it be meditation, yoga, massage, a walk on the beach, or a good night sleep.
