Good Day Sunshine

UNIQUE HEALTH AND FITNESS PROGRAM

Summer is here and we have the great fortune of living in sunny South Florida. So when enjoying the great outdoors, being in shape and having that healthy glow is a top priority.

We know a healthy diet and exercise should be a part of our daily routines. But which diet is best? And what form of exercise is most effective? The answer is different for each individual and can be determined with a clinical approach.

There are tests that can help accurately tailor a unique health and fitness program unique to each of us:

DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) is a body scan. It is today’s gold standard for measuring body fat, lean mass, and bone density. It also gives us a clear picture of the types of body fat we have (visceral and subcutaneous) and how much we have of each. Once we know how much body fat we have, we can determine how much fat needs to be lost or gained to meet ideal body weight. The DEXA also indicates our body type, which helps us to determine the appropriate mode of exercise to incorporate.

RMR measures oxygen consumption at rest and tells us how many calories we burn on a daily basis at rest. When we know how many calories we burn, we know how many we can consume in order to reach that goal weight and still maintain energy levels. As we exercise and increase our lean tissue (strengthen our muscles), our metabolic rate also increases. So you can change your body composition to boost your metabolism, and you can measure your RMR to chart your progress.

VO2 Max measures oxygen consumption during exercise and tells us exactly where our heart rate needs to be to optimize workouts— or how intensely we need to exercise to challenge ourselves safely. We know that exercise at the appropriate intensity will increase our lean tissue (or muscle). This is important because lean tissue is what drives our metabolic rate.

Leucocyte Activation Test (or food sensitivity test) is a simple blood test that tells us exactly which foods our body is metabolizing and digesting properly and which to avoid. We can create a well-balanced, healthy meal plan when we know exactly which fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, seafood, poultry, meats to include.
PURE accounting of lifestyle, environmental factors and preferences help to fine tune each program so that it is not only productive but enjoyable.

Kick off the summer and evaluate your health and wellness assets!
